[Simple Flying]: Alaska Airlines is leveling up in-flight dining once again. Starting this spring, first-class travelers flying from San Francisco International Airport (SFO) to major East Coast cities will enjoy a refreshed menu created by Michelin-starred chef Brandon Jew. At the same time, the main cabin travelers can look forward to a bold new plant-based bowl developed by Seattle-based Evergreens, available for pre-order on select flights starting April 30.
Building on a partnership launched in Fall 2024, the airline is expanding chef Brandon Jew’s Cantonese-inspired dishes to new first class routes, while also rolling out more nutritious and flavorful choices for economy passengers. Alaska Airlines’ goal: elevate expectations for onboard dining, whether you’re in the front row or near the wings.

The owner of Mister Jiu’s in San Francisco and James Beard Award-winning chef Brandon Jew have created a new menu that is served on a few first class flights from San Francisco to New York ( New York JFK Airport and Newark Liberty International Airport ), Boston Logan International Airport , Washington DC (both Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport and Washington Dulles International Airport ), and Orlando International Airport .
Among the new selections are creative variations of classic Cantonese cuisine, as the carrier continues to emphasize sustainable, locally produced foods from the chef’s culinary philosophy and cultural heritage. Alaska Airlines’ Vice President of Products and Experience, Todd Traynor-Corey, said that Chef Jew is the perfect partner because of his creative style and capacity to create meals that suit a variety of palates.
Chef Brandon Jew also shared his enthusiasm. “As I developed my first menu cycle, I learned to rely on sauces that are delicious on their own and to create dishes that evoke a sense of place – whether that’s reminding guests of home or getting them excited to visit San Francisco’s Chinatown where my restaurant is located.”
