Having been raised in Yan Gon, Myanmar, which is known for its hospitality and kindness, my testament at a young age was to contribute to the hospitality industry and give back to the community. My name is Yin Moe Aye, though I also go by Chelsea, a nickname given to me by my uncle, who had won a sports bet against his friends. Just about 8 years ago, my home broke into a war zone overnight. Witnessing incredible atrocities raging from a powerful, hungry militia that attacks a million homes and destroys many more dreams. Through it all, my parents persevere not only as a pillar of support for the community but also as a chance to pursue my education in Switzerland. Getting scholarship support from IFSA means more than the chance to see my dreams come to life; it also means taking some of the financial burden off my parents.
