My name is Jaden Lee, and I am currently a computer engineering student at UC Davis. Growing up in San Francisco, I was sandwiched between a smart older brother and a younger sister who was mischievous. I watched my parents—neither of whom attended college—dedicate everything to raising us. Their sacrifice made every opportunity I have possible. From messing around with games and browsing the internet at first, I became hooked on computers through my dad’s old desktop, where my curiosity became an obsession with trying to understand the computer’s inner workings. That very same curiosity formed my motivation, as I continue to seek answers to this day, where I am learning to build the kinds of systems that once seemed like pure magic. Henceforth, I hope to join research efforts in developing new technologies, motivated by the idea of transforming how we use technology in daily life into tools that can make people’s lives better.
