The mission of the IFSA Government Affairs and Education Committee (GAEC) is to provide information, guidance and education to the IFSA membership regarding food safety and security. GAEC maintains an open dialogue with appropriate worldwide regulatory and legislative bodies in order to represent IFSA’s interests before these groups and will work cooperatively toward the common goal for public health, safety and security. GAEC ensures the educational needs of the membership related to these issues are provided through the development of training materials and facilitation of workshops. Education tools, such as IFSA’s World Food Safety Guidelines (WFSG), authored by industry experts and members, have been adopted by airlines and caterers throughout the globe as THE comprehensive resource for exceeding global food safety standards. The European Union Task Force is part of GAEC’s purview and focuses on regulatory issues within the European Union and meets with stakeholders to ensure understanding of the airline catering industry’s issues and positions.
