We are quickly approaching September and time for the IFSA Conference and EXPO in Long Beach, California. In advance of the meeting, I wanted to provide a few key updates regarding your Association.
As you may know, APEX (Airline Passenger Experience) and IFSA have maintained a close, long-standing relationship for many years, and recently we’ve taken steps to advance this relationship. Both organizations focus on in-flight services and share the desire to evolve value propositions and expand membership. By furthering our relationship with APEX, IFSA can increase its global footprint, build additional strategic partnerships with like-minded organizations and expand our reach, bringing greater value to all of us as members.
It was announced earlier this year that APEX CEO Dr. Joe Leader would also support IFSA as CEO, and we now have an interim agreement outlining the CEO relationship, future alignment and co-locations. The IFSA and APEX boards of directors have now approved next steps to further strengthen our long-time partnership by more formally aligning the two organizations with a shared vision.Under this new structure, IFSA will remain intact as an independent trade association operating within the broader umbrella of APEX.We will continue to maintain the annual Conference & EXPO, the board of directors, committees, membership and all programs.
How will this impact us as members of IFSA?We will have a much greater pool of contacts, customers, friends and colleagues as a result of growing our international IFSA network and community. Our size and international presence will enhance our ability to advocate on issues impacting our businesses. And the boost in resources will put IFSA in a better position to be more strategic by enhancing our services to members.
What are the next steps? To make this structure formal, following this year’s Conference & EXPO, we will ask you to vote on a bylaws change to allow an annual endorsement of the IFSA Board of Directors by the APEX Board of Directors. APEX will also ask for a vote of confidence from the IFSA Board of Directors each year. Please look for additional information following the September meeting.
As we go forward, IFSA will maintain its individuality and its services, staff and independence. Please continue to contact our IFSA staff as needed for any questions involving membership, committees, Foundation, Expo and sponsorships. Should you have additional questions or comments, you can access an FAQ atwww.ifsanet.comor reach out to staff, Dr. Leader, myself or any of ourBoard members.
IFSA Staff Updates
I’m also very pleased to provide updates regarding the IFSA staff team. Lauren Costello will be joining the IFSA team as the new Executive Director. Lauren has been with our Kellen management group for over 7 years. She has valuable experience in managing both people and programs, and will be a huge asset to IFSA. Also joining us is Libby Settle, our new Manager of Meetings. Libby is a Certified Meeting Planner, has been with Kellen for several years and has more than 10 years of experience with a wide variety of events and industries.
Both Lauren and Libby are also part of the APEX team, and their coordinated efforts will create maximum synergies within the partnership. Please join me in welcoming Lauren and Libby to the IFSA team.We are very excited to have them onboard. You can find a list of IFSA staff members and their contact information onwww.ifsanet.com.
I hope you all had a relaxing, safe and wonderful summer. I look forward to seeing each and every one of you next month in Long Beach, CA at the IFSA/ APEX Expo!
