IFSA Around the World
IFSA in Singapore:Recently, the Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX) held their 2016 EXPO in Singapore where IFSA sponsored a Singapore Sling social event attended by over 100 people including APEX members, airline reps and more! APEX is a valued partner of IFSA and we're excited for more opportunities to work together in 2017 and beyond.
Conference Planning Committee:Last month the IFSA Conference Planning Committee visited Long Beach for a pre-planning meeting to check out the host city for the 2017 Conference & Expo. The group was able to visit the convention center, where we will be co-located with APEX and Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX) as well as tour local hotels and event space for the social networking event. More information will follow in early 2017.
GAEC Update:The European Union (EU) Task Force recently had very successful meetings in Brussels where they met with EU officials in the European Commission's DG SANTE (Directorate General for Health & Food Safety) and other industry stakeholder associations. These meetings served to introduce the inflight catering industry to the EU legislators in charge of policy issues of concern for IFSA and to raise awareness about the complexity of our sector. Our Task Force also obtained insight on upcoming studies, policy proposals and an internal task force report on food labeling requirements for transport caterers and will be joining the Food Contact Material Stakeholder Group.
