First, I hope everyone had a joyful and safe holiday season. The holidays are always a busy time of year for the onboard industry and this year was no exception.
2016 is officially upon us and with this new year, comes a new IFSA! For one you will notice the new design of our newsletter, OnBoard, and the new official logo for the IFSA Conference and Expo. This is all in an effort to create a more recognizable and cohesive branding for IFSA now and in the future. Website updates are happening more frequently and will now incorporate the latest information on regional and annual events as well as industry news.
IFSA staff has been working hard in partnership with the committees to ensure our main event in Chicago – September 19-21, 2016 - will be one no member will want to miss! As a members’ only association, the annual Conference and Expo is specifically designed to provide many benefits, including networking opportunities, where you’re able to meet the decision makers in the onboard services industry face to face and create unique connections.
Last month (December), the Planning Committee made their official site visit to Chicago and finalized logistics for what is sure to be one of most successful Conference and Expos yet. A few new things I can mention are: a New Member Pavilion, New Product Showcase - both invaluable opportunities to get either your brand or new product in front of the IFSA airline members. Don’t forget our exciting Chef’s Competition and an industry keynote speaker. Information about the conference and expo can always be found on our website here and will continue to be updated.
Want to see your IFSA colleagues sooner than September? Join us for the regional event in Atlanta, Georgia on February 4th at the World of Coca-Cola Museum. For more information, click here.
The Government Affairs and Education Committee are finalizing an updated version of the World Food Safety Guidelines, which will be an important resource available to members only. In 2016, IFSA will provide training opportunities on these guidelines as well as other regulatory matters for further education. In addition, we have launched an “Ask a Food Safety Expert” section on the IFSA website. This is a specially designed area where you, a valued IFSA member, can submit your questions to our expert panel for answering while also being able to view other questions/answers submitted. We believe this will prove to be an important resource for all IFSA members seeking guidance on these often complicated matters.
We are extremely proud of IFSA’s Scholarship Foundation program. To date, we have given over $400,000 in scholarship money. It is an honor as an Association to provide our members and their families with this assistance and reward hard working students. Please be on the lookout and spread the word as the application and giving process for these scholarships start to ramp up for 2016.
I want to extend a big thank you to all of our members for the continuous dedication through the years and those involved with each and every committee. We all take a lot of pride in what we have done for the past 50 years with IFSA and want to be an association on the cutting edge of new ideas and new approaches. Here’s to the next 50!
P.S. Check out our new "The Value of IFSA" video below! Thank you to all the members and staff who participated in making this video possible.
