Join aviation professionals from the Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX) and the International Flight Services Association (IFSA) for the APEX/IFSA EXPO! The EXPO is the only event exclusive to experts and decision-makers from around the world committed to elevating the airline passenger experience. This event is expected to attract thousands of attendees representing more than 120 airlines and over 250 vendors from dozens of industries – ranging from IFE to catering. Find out who’s attending the EXPO:

The EXPO will showcase the latest and most comprehensive display of airline related technologies, products and services covering four areas: comfort, ambiance, multimedia and services. 

Schedule of Events

Join IFSA on Sunday 8 September for the Welcome Reception, which is a great opportunity to meet EXPO attendees and speakers. 

On Monday 9 September, APEX and IFSA will team up to present a learning journey with speakers from various industries. The day kicks off with a keynote address from Dean Hallett, Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President of Operations & Strategy of Fox Filmed Entertainment. Next, Christian Charnaux, Vice President, Global Brands Strategy of Hilton Worldwide will review his experiences developing and coordinating brand strategy for nine global brand management teams. Attendees will also hear from Dr. Mark Hiller, CEO of Recaro, who will explore how airlines can merge functionality with sleek designs and luxury. Lastly for the morning joint general sessions is Devin Liddell, Principal Brand Strategist of TEAGUE, who will detail the future of customer experiences for hotels and airlines. Immediately following the general session on Monday is the Hot Topics Roundtable Session, featuring tables focused on Controlling Buy on Board Waste, Quality Assurance Best Practices and the latest updates on food safety. IFSA members will receive important Association updates during the IFSA Annual Business Meeting, which will be held on Monday afternoon.

And on Monday evening, attendees are invited to participate in the IFSA Rock and Bowl Tournament, which will be held at 300 Anaheim. During this event, attendees will enjoy bowling, billiards and entertainment to provide support in the form of scholarships to college students and industry professionals seeking to advance their careers. Be sure to not to miss the IFSA Foundation Presentation of the 2013 scholarship recipients. This year, the IFSA Foundation awarded over $40,000 in scholarships, due to the generous donations of its long-standing donors and many new supporters. Slated for Tuesday is the 5th Annual IFSA Chef’s Competition, designed to test the skills of industry chefs in creativity, speed and ability. Make sure to grab a seat at the competition stage to watch the contestants compete for the most mouthwatering dishes prepared in 30 minutes. Connect with fellow EXPO attendees in a relaxed atmosphere on Tuesday evening at the IFSA Hospitality Suite, sponsored by McGuire & Associates.  

And on Wednesday evening, IFSA and APEX are teaming up to present the Social Networking Event, sponsored by Harvey Alpert & Company and The Coca-Cola Company, at Disney California Adventure Park. Fall down the Rabbit Hole and enter the world of Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland at our rock’ Mad T Party. Dance to the sounds of the Mad T Band and the White Rabbit DJ, watch shows on the hottest deck in town and sharpen your gaming skills at the Madcade Arcade.

IFSA 2013-2014 Board of Directors Nominations

IFSA is pleased to announce the names of the candidates selected by both the Active Nominating Committee and the Supplier Nominating Committee to run for election for the 2013 IFSA Board of Directors.

Primary and alternate contacts for each member company were notified of the election on July 22. Only the primary or alternate contact is entitled to one (1) electronic vote per open position in the 2013 election for Board of Director positions. For this election cycle, openings include two (2) three-year positions in the Active category and one (1) three-year position in the Supplier category. Ballots must be submitted by Friday, Aug. 30.

Delta Air Lines Creates Culinary Competition, Awards

Culinary Competition
Delta is partnering with Food & Wine magazine to create a culinary competition video series, “The Cabin Pressure Cook Off,” and the winning chef will consult with Delta to provide menus for flights departing from Atlanta. Four chefs will compete:
·         Hugh Acheson-Empire State South in Atlanta and Five & Ten and The National in Athens, Georgia
·         Linton Hopkins-Restaurant Eugene and Holeman & Finch Public House in Atlanta
·         Kelly English-Restaurant Iris and The Second Line in Memphis and Kelly English Steakhouse in St. Louis

Colin Munn, Director of Marketing & Sales, Europe/Middle East: Colin has more than 17 years of experience in the industry, working in a variety of airline sectors including logistics, caterers, and airline corporate teams. He will be based in the United Kingdom.

Heather Finidori, Key Account Manager: Heather has experience working in supply chain management, food sourcing and sales. Prior to this appointment, she worked for LSG Sky Chefs for over 10 years as the Procurement Manager, Airlines and Senior Materials Analyst.

Allison Hardesty, Key Account Manager: Allison brings marketing and new business development and relationship management experience to the team. She previously served as Sales Director with GoPicnic Concept Labs.
